Wrapping Paper

“What are you trying to do?” Ianto Jones inquired and Jack Harkness looked up with a startled noise.

“What are you still doing here?” Jack demanded as he almost glared at the trim Welshman.

“I was just locking up for the night Sir, and you sounded like you needed some assistance.” Ianto kept his voice bland and Jack pouted momentarily. He hadn’t thought his cursing had been that loud.

“I was just having a small problem with some paperwork,” Jack replied.

“Torchwood doesn’t normally have paperwork with snowmen on it,” Ianto pointed out calmly, his eyes fixing on the brightly coloured paper on the Captain’s desk.  A name tag and torn paper surrounded something small and crystalline. Jack glared and Ianto looked at the captain. “Would you like some assistance Sir?”

“I can manage it, thank you,” Jack snapped, keeping his hand on the crumpled paper.

“Very well Sir,” Ianto dipped his head slightly. “I will see you in the morning then. Good night Captain.”

“Yeah, g’night Ianto.” Jack seemed almost relieved at Ianto’s acquiescence. “And thanks Ianto. For offering, you know.”

“Any time Sir,” Ianto nodded again and made his way out of the Hub wondering who Estelle was and hoping she wasn’t too picky about neatly wrapped presents.

Lucky Estelle, getting something crystally for Christmas - if Jack ever manages to wrap it. Maybe Ianto should have suggested putting the item in a box first! It makes wrapping so much easier.
